WC MESSAGE BOARD

Questions for Pete LaDuke, Waheela Creator and Exalted Know-it-All.

Q: What does Waheela mean?

PL: It’s a wolf-like creature from Native American folklore.  Actually, when I was a kid up at summer camp in Northern Michigan, the counselors told the story of the Waheela which was basically a werewolf tale which scared the bee jeepers out of us.

Q: Are you going to make all kinds of comics?

PL: Eventually perhaps, but I’m thinking mostly horror genre for starters.

Q: What will your first comic book be?

PL: Untitled at the moment, but I’m currently (as we speak) working on a werewolf comic that is inspired by true events.

Q: Yeah, right. They said The Amityville Horror was for real and it turned out to be fake.

PL: I had my doubts too. But you’ll just have to take my word for it.  The author lives underground, not in a bunker, but in hiding and has been sending me handwritten notes for almost two years.  I was skeptical myself but now I’ve come to believe that the story is truthful and needs to be told!  I will serve as editor of the book but will by no means attempt to rewrite the author’s original notes.  I’m still searching for the right artist to give the book its proper due. That’s been the challenge.

Q: Who is the author?

PL: That will only be announced when the book is completed—at his request.

Q: I Googled your name and see that you’ve been in a few movies.

PL: Yes. That’s correct.  But it wasn’t that big of deal. The flicks I acted in were super low budget Indy stuff—though one made it to HBO.

Q: Are you and Brock Tarzana the same guy?

PL: Absolutely not. Brock and I have similar body-types but I assure you; we’re not related.

Q: Brock Tarzana is becoming a cult figure in Germany.

PL: Not exactly an epic star like David Hasselhoff. But…hey,  I thought we were discussing comics?

Q: What’s your favorite comic book?

PL: Couldn’t tell you.  I know that sounds cliché but I like so much stuff it’s hard to pick one.  I grew up on a lot of the old school stuff: Plastic Man, Fantastic Four, Flash, Tales from the Crypt and Eerie—boy, that was cool! Hell, “Sad Sack” used to leave me in stitches.”

I just read “30 Days of Night” and thought that was a fun ride.  So basically without trying to tap dance too much here: If it’s good, I will read it! And I hope you are the same.  I assure you if you give Waheela Comics first edition a chance we will not disappoint you!
